As the country observed the Holy Week, AF Payment Inc’s (AFPI) Rail Operations Team successfully conducted its annual preventive maintenance activity on the light rail Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) infrastructure. AFPI, in close coordination with the Public Transport Operators of LRT 1, LRT 2 and MRT 3, performed thorough equipment checks, replacement or refurbishing of critical modules and components, and cable management -- on top of other maintenance protocols -- to ensure overall optimum performance of AFCS devices: 779 Automatic Gates, 156 Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), 227 Point of Sale (POS) terminals and 46 Station Computer Systems (SCS).
Since 2015, AFPI has been maintaining the AFCS infrastructure of the 44 stations across the three light rail lines in Metro Manila as part of the 10-year concession agreement with the Department of Transportation. Recently, AFPI was engaged to set up and maintain the AFCS infrastructure at the additional two stations at LRT 2 (Marikina and Antipolo) and is currently working with LRT 1 for the AFCS component of its soon-to-launch Cavite Extension Project involving an additional 5 stations.
AFPI continues to build its extensive AFCS track record and experience in various modes of transportation, including buses, modern jeepneys and ferry services. To date, it has issued close to 9 million contactless stored value cards under its beep™ brand, as it aims to expand its ticketing and fare collection solutions and payments ecosystem nationwide, thus also providing Filipino commuters convenience.
