The government’s ongoing PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP) continues, this time in the Baguio-Benguet region. Last June 9, around 30 members of the Baguio-Benguet PUJ Federation met up at the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), City Engineer’s Office Compound to discuss PUVMP updates from the Traffic and Transportation Management Division (TTMD) and LTFRB. Focus of the updates include the finalization of the Local Public Transport Route Plan, rerouting of existing jeepney terminals, and the addition of jeepney units to address the influx of tourists and daily commute needs of the Baguio-Benguet residents.
The forum also gave the opportunity for guests, Foton and beep™, to present their modern PUJ units and transport cashless payments services, respectively. The event was attended by the organizers from TTMD, Engr. Januario Borillo and Engr. Thea Camiring under the City Engineering Office (CEO) headed by Engr. Edgar Victorino Olpindo. Also in attendance were Hon. Benny O. Bomogao (City Councilor and Chairman of the Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation, and Traffic Legislation), PLTCOL. Roldan E. Cabatan (Chief of BCPO-TEU), Engr. Nora Delos Santos (Maintenance Head of BCDEO-DPWH), Daryll Kim T. Longid (CMO of Public Order & Safety Division), Atty. Jordan Tumayan (Legal Officer III of the City Legal Office), and Engr. Richard L. Lardizabal (Head, Maintenance Division-CEO).
beep™, being a supporter of the PUVMP, set up a booth so that interested guests can readily get information regarding transport solutions and cashless payment options that can best serve their business.
